Risk in the assets themselves
Crypto asset prices move violently and you can lose everything you put in. This is not a formality — sharp falls over short periods are normal in this asset class, and individual assets have historically gone to zero. Do not commit money you cannot afford to lose.
Besides price, several other categories are equally real:
- Platform risk. The number in an exchange account is, in substance, a record of what the platform owes you. If the platform fails, is restricted, or ceases service, you may be unable to retrieve your assets.
- Operational risk. On-chain transfers are irreversible. A wrong address, the wrong network, or a lost key or seed phrase makes assets permanently unrecoverable, and no institution can assist.
- Stablecoin risk. A fiat-pegged token is not a risk-free asset; its value depends on the issuer's ability and willingness to redeem.
- Compliance and payment-chain risk. Funds received through peer-to-peer trading can lead to your bank account being frozen because of an upstream problem you knew nothing about.
Regional differences
Some jurisdictions restrict — or prohibit — holding, trading, exchanging or promoting crypto assets. This site is written primarily for readers in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, and nothing here implies the same applies where you are. Check the current rules in your own jurisdiction, and take local professional advice where it matters.
One point deserves emphasis: exchanging currency or digital assets on behalf of others is, in most jurisdictions, a licensable activity, and doing it without authorisation may be a criminal offence. This site has a guide on that, which is equally not legal advice.
What this site's content is

Currency and accuracy
Crypto and regulation both move quickly. We try to be accurate at the time of writing and we date what we checked, but we do not warrant that content is still accurate when you read it. For fees, limits, legal provisions and platform processes, the current official publication governs.
When we find errors we correct them and log them publicly on the corrections page. If you spot one, please tell us.
Limitation of liability
Any decision you make on the basis of this content is your own responsibility. To the extent permitted by law, this site and its editors accept no liability for loss arising from use of or reliance on its contents.
This site may link to third-party websites. We do not control their content and are not responsible for its accuracy, security or availability.
Commercial relationships
This site carries exchange referral links and may earn commission when readers sign up through them. The full description of that arrangement, and the limits we set ourselves, are on the disclosure page. The presence of a referral link does not alter what we say about a platform's problems.
